Caleb Shaw was born 19 MAY 1719 in Kensington, NH. He died 25 DEC 1791 in Hampton, Rockingham, NH. He was the son of Joseph Shaw (1681-1745) and Hannah Johnson.

Caleb Shaw's wife was Abigail Batchelder (1721-1810). They were married 16 OCT 1747. They had one known child named Hannah Shaw (1742-1819).

CALEB SHAW was born in what is now Kensington NH May 9 1719 m Oct1st 1747 Abigail daughter of John Bachelder who was born July 28 1721and died Feb 2 1810.
They settled in his native town soon after its separation from Hamptonwhich was in 1737. He was a Revolutionary soldier both he and his son,Caleb Jr., being mentioned as soldiers from Kensington (when the latterwas but 20 years old) by the military records of that period-date ofenlistment June 3, 1775, in the Company of Capt. Winthrop Rowe. Inaddition to his remarkable inventive and mechanical faculties which led tothe manufacture of articles of various kinds for home use, he was astorekeeper, farmer, and tailor. A clock with the inscription "Caleb Shaw,1749" still remains in the possession of his granddaughter, Mrs AbigailBlodgett, in a state of good preservation. Mr Shaw died Dec. 20, 1791,after which his wife, who survived him nineteen years, went to live withher son Elijah on Orchard Hill in the same town-- which place has eversince been owned by his descendants, and is at the present time, thehome of the great grandsons, Thomas C. and Weare N. Shaw. A willmade in 1787 by Mr. Shaw mentions only six children while familyrecords show a family of eleven namely
