Bagpipe Player and his Lover by Sebald Beham, 1520

Apparently in the sixteen century, the image of the bagpipe was firmly ingrained as a sexual, lustful symbol. Where stringed instruments were "serene and intellectual" bagpipes were more "emotional and rustic". Are bagpipers really that depraved? (...where's his hand!?)
